Elasticsearch Grows Leadership Team With Former Splunk Exec

Gaurav Gupta joins Elasticsearch as VP, Product Management

LOS ALTOS, CA and AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2014) - Elasticsearch Inc., the massively popular open source search and analytics company, is thrilled to announce that Gaurav Gupta has joined as its first VP, Product Management. In his new role, Gupta, the former VP of Products at Splunk, will help define Elasticsearch's product roadmap -- the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana) as well as connectors to Hadoop -- as it marches toward becoming the de facto platform for businesses to organize and analyze all of their data.

Gupta spent the past five years as a product leader at Splunk, a publicly-traded software company that provides operational intelligence software to make machine data accessible. While there, Gupta was responsible for the overall user experience of the company's core enterprise product, including its indexing, search and analytics technology. He also led the development of the company's Cloud and online offerings, including Splunk Storm, Splunk Apps and Splunk Answers. Before Splunk, Gupta worked in product and strategy roles at Google, Gateway and the McKenna Group, and also spent time as a venture capitalist.

"With 500,000 downloads every month and the support of a passionate community, it's obvious Elasticsearch is building something truly disruptive," said Gaurav Gupta, VP, Product Management at Elasticsearch. "I couldn't be more thrilled to join the company at such an exciting time, and look forward to translating our vision into products that continue to allow our customers to leverage all of their data like never before."

"We're focused on building the most simple yet scalable products that redefine how businesses explore and extract value from their data," said Shay Banon, Elasticsearch creator, co-founder and CTO. "I'm excited to have someone like Gaurav on board who shares our vision and is going to play an instrumental role in taking our products to the next level."

Thousands of businesses worldwide continue to adopt Elasticsearch to store, search and analyze any type of data in real time, including Target, Bloomberg, The New York Times, Facebook, GitHub, Netflix, Yelp, Verizon, McGraw-Hill, WordPress, Atlassian and SoundCloud.
