Los Altos, California sits just 40 miles south of San Francisco in the heart of the Silicon Valley. The city is near some of the most cutting edge high-tech companies in the world that offer top employment prospects in the technology field. In addition, the city’s proximity to San Francisco allows many to pursue careers in other professional fields and in art.
With a highly-educated population, the schools in Los Altos are some of the top-rated in the country. Many of the schools have won awards for academic excellence. These schools can boast that the vast majority of their graduates go on to study at top universities and colleges.
Los Altos also is not far from the other major cities in Silicon Valley, including San Jose, Mountain View and Los Altos Hills. With such a close proximity to other Bay Area cities, residents can enjoy attractions from the entire area.

Quality of life also is prime asset that Los Altos offers. The city is upscale without losing its small town charm. Parks are plentiful, with playgrounds, sports fields, barbecue pits and picnic areas. Some of the top parks in the city include Marymeade Park and Hillview Community Center and Park. These parks and play areas are enjoyable for the younger set, while teenagers can enjoy the Underground Teen Center at the Civic Center. This is a safe place to hang out, play video games, shoot some hoops and play air hockey.

The downtown area in Los Altos also contributes to the high quality of life in the community. The area has retail centers, a seasonal farmers’ market and other annual events, including the Holiday Stroll, the Art and Wine Festival and the Fall Festival.
